547- Policeman directing traffic. The street car is decorated for the SHOUKOU HANA MATSURI, a flower festival sponsored by the city to promote local businesses. The festival took place from April 13th through 15th, 1951. The building behind the street car is the Sendai Station, as seen in #549, #245 and #249. The station was burned down during the war and rebuilt in 1949. A temporary barrack was used as a station in between. The KOKESHI (wooden doll) tower on the right was built when a Grand Fair was held to celebrate the reconstruction of Sendai in the spring of 1949. After the fair, the tower was used for advertisement. On the picture it says National (Panasonic’s former trademark). from Y. Matsuura, April 2021

548- People walking to Parade. #548 & 549 - During the HANA MATSURI, there were two parades, a fish themed parade on the first day, and a car parade on the last day. I am guessing that the parade on this picture is the fish parade, which also featured an old Japanese fairy tale, URASHIMA TARO. from Y. Matsuura, April 2021
