Photograph Exhibit, June 25, 2024 to January 14, 2025
Ishinomaki, Miyagi, Japan
The Ishinomaki Archive Non-Profit organization is organizing a unique exhibit of 26 of George A. Butler’s photographs of Ishinomaki taken in 1951. The original slides for these photographs are in the archives of the Peabody Museum of Archeology and Ethnology at Harvard College.
The exhibition will consist of 26 panels of A1 size (594x841mm) printed on rigid, weatherproof, board and located as close as possible to the actual location where George Butler took the photograph in 1951. Thus, the viewer will be able to see the locale in 1951 and as it is today. Each panel will have a QR code that will link the viewer to explanatory materials, narratives and a map showing the locations of the panels.
